Unwanted Horses

In a perfect world, it would be ideal for every horse to live out his days in rich, green pastures. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. While nobody likes to think about it, the topic of what to do with unwanted, unneeded or unusable horses must be addressed.  The Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC), a broad alliance of equine organizations that have joined together under the American Horse Council, is concerned that some horses may slip through the various safety nets within the equine industry. Too many owners are unaware of, or do not give enough thought to, the available options, services and assistance available in the industry to help them ensure that their horse has caring and humane support throughout its life.  The Unwanted Horse Coalition will help educate the horse industry about this issue and help people learn to own horses responsibly.

Lazy Bayou, LLC accepts donations using PayPal.  Donations can be made in any amount. At the end of each month if the total donations for that month are $100.00 or more a check is sent for the total amount in the fund.  If donations for the current month are less than $100.00 the donations are held over to the following month until the amount reaches $100.00 or more.

This is an ambitious undertaking. The UHC is partially funded by donations from caring individuals and groups. If you would like to help reduce the number of unwanted horses, please make a donation. Contributions are not deductible as charitable contributions, but may be deductible for federal income tax purposes as an ordinary and necessary business expense under Section 162 of the Internal Revenue Code.
